This train passes the southend of the short 2200 foot siding and original SAL signals at Woodford, SC. This is not unusual for the sidings to be short on this CTC line since it was never a major freight route for CSX predesesor Seaboard Air Line. SAL ran freight via Charleston and Andrews between Hamlet and Savannah. |

This work train with ballast cars sits idle on the former ACL Florence-Robbins mainline. There is a spur of the old AK line that goes south of Denmark, but I do not know how far it goes. These AK mileposts take over the C&WC at Robbins all the way to Spartanburg. |

This is the northend of the siding at Ulmer, SC. These signals look pretty original in silver paint as in SAL days instead of the black paint on the upper half of the masts like most have gotten. About the only modernization is the satellite dish on the signal box.....whatever thats for and a lot of those are on this subdivision. |

CSX has replaced the old SCL era detector house (as they are refered to in SCL track charts) with a Harmon Electronics detector at MP S-433.4 between Sycamore and Fairfax, SC. At this location, you can see the Seaboard stretch out straight as an arrow in both directions for miles, giving this stretch of "Air Line" a true meaning to the SAL. |
