MKT Sloan Yard
Title:  MKT Sloan Yard
Description:  San Antonio's "quaintest" operation in the 70's was easily the Katy, with its one switch engine and daily round trip from Waco. The northbound train #184 is readying for its afternoon departure. All yard trackage and improvements were abandoned after UP's acquisition of the MKT in 1988, although Katy's main out of San Antonio is still busy with northbound directional UP traffic..

Kirby Meet
Title:  Kirby Meet
Description:  8306 West is in Kirby siding meeting an eastbound coal train at what is now a much-different looking west end of Kirby. Construction of Kirby yard in the early 80's required switching the main track and siding. Cabooses disappeared around 1984. San Antonio's CPS coal trains were an SP-BN move until UP acquired the contract in the mid-80's.
