Viewing Album:  Red and Green Cabooses in Topeka

Album Info:Topeka is a city where you are lucky enough to see a handful of cabooses still operating occasionally, on both the BNSF and UP lines through town. In addition to these, though, there are a few others that have been preserved for display, both next to fake depots. The red one is located in Gage Park, and the green one is located on the intersection of 29th Street and California Avenue.

Gage Park Depot

Description:  It looks like an old ATSF depot, and that is deliberate. When the park decided to build a new waiting area for their mini train ride, they followed standard Santa Fe Branchline Station No. 2 plans from their 1910 plan book. The result looks like one of numerous buildings that graced small towns in the west in the early 1900s.
