Description:
Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) M-4 class 2-6-0 442 was at
AVONDALE YARD
, across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, on 24 April 1954. The locomotive had been built by Cooke (2425) in March 1899 as SP 1459 and was renumbered 1657 in 1900. It was sold to the Espee’s Texas and Louisiana Lines in October 1901 as the 442 and was sold for scrap to Commercial Metals in Houston on 3 February 1955.
