Description:
Original built as C&O #838, this 1917 Alco-Schenectady "Mallet Mogul" sits in an unidentified yard. These monsters were slow moving but powerful locomotives primarily used for long coal drags in West Virginia and Kentucky. Specs - serial #57021, H-4, 56.5" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x32" high pressure cylinders, 35x32" low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 435,000 lb, tractive effort of 93,600 lb. No location, date or photographer listed for the photo.
