It starts with a horn |
| Description: |
We had just gotten back from a trip to Rogers for lunch/shopping, and I had just finished putting the stuff away, when I heard a horn from what sounded like a northbound. Lately, it seems every time I set foot outside, theres a train. This was the first sunny day in about a week, so out the door I went. The quarry turned out to be a northbound empty American Electric Power train returning from Texas, seen here at Davidson Rd, all four units up front of its 124 cars. |

The northbounds usually make good time, since theyre empty and lighter. This crew must have been on the way home, they werent wasting any time. He beat me to Gentry, but I was able to outrun him to Y City Rd just south of Decatur. |

Along the rocks |
| Description: |
The empty coal train rolls below Butler Bluff as it heads to a meet with the 262, which is waiting in the siding. Leader UP 5888 is a recent repaint, now in the small cab side flag, and no wings on the nose scheme. Too bad. The large flag was a good look, but got pretty ratty as it wore. But the nose wings were an elegant touch, harkening back to a storied past. |
