The Illinois Central 2-8-2 Mikado #1414 now sits in thescrap line at the Proviso Yard after its sale for scrap in May of 1955. Original built by Lima in October of 1923 as IC #1926 (serial #6518), it was rebuilt and renumbered by the IC shops in November of 1937 to IC #1414. After nearly 32 years of service, the loco was sold for scrap in May of 1955. New rebuilt specs - 63.5" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 308,500 lb and tractive effort of 65,868 lb No photographer was listed for the photo. |
