CN 4-8-2 #6036 - Canadian National
Title:  CN 4-8-2 #6036 - Canadian National
Description:  Rolling past the small Limehouse, Ontario depot is Canadian National 4-8-2 #6036 with its string of varnish. Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in November of 1924, the loco and its other 4-8-2 sisters were a common site heading up passenger trains throughout the early CN region. Specs - serial #1769, class U-1-b, 73" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 354,300 lb, tractive effort of 49,589 lb. The loco was scrapped in July of 1958. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo but the depot sign identifies the location. Bruce Gemmel was able to track down that it was taken by Robert Sandusky on June 22 1952. This is train 172 from Palmerston. Ian Wilson comments: “Heavy power on such secondary assignments mean the steam era is drawing to a close.” The single lane road bridge in the distance, built in 1910, is still in use. Thanks, Bruce!!!
