Description:  In its original configuration, the DLW S&U lines crossed the D&H here at a location called BX and went to East Binghamton yard, which today is used by CP. The D&H Bevier St yard was(is) to the left out of the photo, It commected here to the DLW and the Erie, with the line to their passenger station and the Erie yard crossing the DLW line. Were looking south on the Lackawanna at a CP train coming up the old DLW, and heading onto the D&H in a reworking of the junction, now all switches with the diamond long removed. The signals guarded the BX crossing, but have been out of service for a long tiime by the date of this photo.

Title:  Grain east
Description:  Once CP started to integrate operation of the D&H systemwide, a 390 was established that ran from Minneapolis to Port of Albany. This train often got SOO power a lot of the time in solid sets. Todays effort is a mix of power, including one of CP's ex NS SD40-2's that was made into a B unit-note the 4th unit with blanked windows-as we see it passing signal 223-1 wrong main on the last lap into Binghamton with a typical train of 91 cars.

Description:  And IBM. Train 558, very late this day, rolls out of the late day sun and the IBM complex at Hayes Av in Endicott. This view shows the scope of the facility there, which once made mainframes, and eventually PCs. Ten years later, IBM which employed over 10,000 in the region, would be largely a memory.

Description:  After following NY 70 for about 12 miles from Canaseraga, the tracks veer away as they approach the Portage Bridge in Letchworth State Park, taking a more direct path than the road. We see 261 just east of Dalton as it starts this approach behind SOO and GATX units with 62 TOFC.

Description:  CP 261 rolls past the new, but not yet active, signals at CP HORN, replacing the old Erie lights there as part of the single tracking project. This marks what was the east end of Hornell yard, ZY on the EL. This was once a major yard and shop on the EL, now only a few tracks, and the shop an ABB complex that rehabs transit and commuter cars.
