Roundhouse at the CD Muzeum
Title:  Roundhouse at the CD Muzeum
Description:  The Ceske Drahy Muzeum was, until the 1990s, an active depot with a roundhouse, another engine shed, and several other buildings. These buildings are now used for display and maintenance of the collection, and the roundhouse is used for both, with some stalls for display, and some for work. Here we see the turntable, several of the display stalls, and some of the steam locomotive collection.

Ex-CSD T334.0869 and CD 103001-4 in the CD Muzeum
Title:  Ex-CSD T334.0869 and CD 103001-4 in the CD Muzeum
Description:  #T334.0869 is classified as a T334 Class under the old pre-1988 numbering scheme, and as a Class 710 under the modern system. As most Czech diesels are diesel-electrics, the 710 Class is unusual in that it is a diesel-hydraulic. Power is only 300Kw (402 horsepower), which is another factor making these units obsolete. Although I dont know T3340869s construction date, the 710 Class were built from 1961 to 1973 by CKD, and while old, are still used on CD today, although in smaller and smaller numbers, of course. Originally>designed as switchers, and lot of them are now used by private rail construction contractors, and some have been exported to Germany, Hungary, Serbia, and Sweden. Many also were also transferred to ZSSK in Slovakia after 1993. This unit is more or less in the original CSD livery, other than that it doesnt have a red star on the nose.

Ex-CSD T466.0286 in the CD Muzeum
Title:  Ex-CSD T466.0286 in the CD Muzeum
Description:  T466.0286 is the same class as 735175-2, although its still carrying its pre-1988 number and is also in much better condition. To review the facts, it would have been produced between 1971 and 1979 by TS Martin, one of a class of 299 units, it has a power rating of 800kW (1073 horsepower), and a top speed of 90Km/h. It could have served as late as 2002, but after that time the last units of the class were withdrawn.

Ex-CSD T669.0085 in the CD Muzeum
Title:  Ex-CSD T669.0085 in the CD Muzeum
Description:  This is a nicely-restored Class T669 diesel road switcher, although I dont know if its operable. Im assuming it is, since it wouldnt make sense to go to this much trouble without restoring it completely. Maybe Im wrong. In any case, these locomotives were introduced in 1963, being built both by CKD and SMZ Dubica, and stayed in production until 1979, according to Wikipedia. Total production was 109, although not all of these survive today. The original power rating for them was 993kW (1332 horsepower), and the maximum speed was 90Km/h, adequate for freight service but not really ideal for passenger service. These locomotives were particularly liked as very heavy switchers. Note the C trucks, which arent as common on Czech diesels as on American diesels. Some were rebuilt in 1967-1969, and some still run in regular service today, although most of them work for companies other than CD, as CSD and later CD lost interest in them as electrification was extended. Some were also built for export to the Soviet Union, Iraq, Syria, Albania, Poland, and India.

Description:  Heres a head-on shot of #T669.0085. I likg tiis shot, but I realise that the top of it is a bit overexposed. Cameraphones dont have much flexibility when it comes to this problem.

CD 735175-2 in the CD Muzeum
Title:  CD 735175-2 in the CD Muzeum
Description:  A diesel-electric mixed-traffic road switcher, the 735 Class were introduced in 1971 and built until 1979 by TS Martin. All were withdrawn by 2002, and this one looks a bit beat up, albeit preserved in the CD Muzeum as a stationary exhibit. The ditch lights are smashed, but surprisingly theres little graffiti on it. I dont know how many parts have been scrounged or stolen from inside it, though.

Ex-CSD M240.0100 and ex-CSD #735175-2 in the CD Muzeum
Title:  Ex-CSD M240.0100 and ex-CSD #735175-2 in the CD Muzeum
Description:  This is a Class M240 DMU, used on suburban and rural branchlines up to the present day. Built by Skoda between 1959 and 1964, these DMUs are old, so they probably dont have too many years left in service. I looked the fleet up on Wikipedia, and only two were listed as still in service as of 2009, one of them in MOW service. Therefore, the remainder are heˆhtage units like this one.
