Title:  NH Alco FA-1 #0401 - New York, New Haven & Hartford
Description:  Built by Alco in May of 1947 as New Haven #0401, this unit bounced around several rr rosters before finally being purchased by the Railroad Museum of New England 0401 in December, 1985. Eventually, the unit was moved to safe storage on the Naugatuck Railroad in 2008. #0401 has the distinct title of being the first Alco cab-type diesel preserved in the United States. An extensive history can be found at (http://www.rmne.org/new-haven-0401/) Unknown photographer

Description:  Acquired by the museum from the Long Island Railroad in the 1980s, this former NH FA-1 was restored to its NH paint scheme. Storage outside at Old Saybrook for many years took its toll and now the unit awaits restoration. Moved to Waterville in 2008 from the Valley Railroad.

NH FA-1 #0421 - New York, New Haven & Hartford
Title:  NH FA-1 #0421 - New York, New Haven & Hartford
Description:  Great closeup color slide by an unknown photographer of the New York New Haven & Hartford FA-1 #0421 built by Alco in Septermber of 1947. The downhill slide of the New Haven is becoming evident when looking at the condition of this once beautiful loco. The photographer listed this as milepost 0293 - does anyone know if that is accurate for Maybrook, NY?

Alcos old and new
Title:  Alcos old and new
Description:  NH 0421 and three rostermates await their fate back where they were built. Alco RS27 demonstrator no. 640-1 appears to be in the process of being rebuilt as a PRR C424, and two export models (likely WDMs for India) frame the foreground. Gerald H. Landau photo, from the Ralph L. Phillips collection of the Bay State Model Railroad Museum.
