"Spike 150 Train"
Description:
The "Spike 150 Train" heads east through the Echo Canyon, Utah, on its way to Evanston, Wyoming, May 12, 2019. We luckily got ahead of this train by driving down Echo Canyon Road thanks to finding a good route on my newly purchased Utah DeLorme atlas. We got ahead of the crowd from Echo, UT going east. People passed us around "Blind Curves!!!!" I used my "MA" motor drive out the rear window! "Big Boy" 4-8-8-4 leads the train! UP ordered twenty five "Big Boy" locomotives between 1941 and 1944. The frame is “articulated” with two sets of driving wheels, perfect for negotiating tight mountain turns. 4014 was built in 1941 and last steamed in 1959. It eventually was restored to operation, converted to run with oil and put in service specifically for use during the anniversary celebrations in 2019. (Canon AE-1 Program 35mm camera, Fuji C200 print film)
