Greg Wiltsie General One guess that I could give is that the red is from a primer that they put on it to repaint it from Conrail blue to G&W orange. The history of the unit is built as Penn Central 7862 in 1970, to Conrail 7862 in 1976, to Genesee and Wyoming 51 in 1985. The colors would have been black -> blue -> orange. Primer would be the best answer that I could give, since you can also see the Conrail blue fading through. 9/1/2011 1:14:25 PM
