Also unique to the EIRR roster is GP30 3006. It is still powered by it's 567D3 prime mover with a 2250 HP rating but to my knowledge is the sole remaining ex Reading GP30 in revenue service. The unit was built as RDG 5506 to RDG 3606 nee CR 2174 then to EIRR 2274 and lastly WAMX 3006. The Reading purchased 20 units of this model from a 1964 production period. Note the unit has been able to retain it's single chime horn through the years. The former RDG 5507/3607 survives today on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in tourist operation which makes two that are known to be running. |
