| Delivered new to Missouri Pacific as SD40-2 3245 in September 1978, the lack of dynamic brakes made it an oddball on the UP roster. Instead of retirement this diesel was deturbocharged and downgraded to SD38-2 specs and now used in hump service. This unit now sports four exhaust stacks instead of one but kept three radiator fans instead of two typical of the 38 series. |
