OIBU was a pretty reliable afternoon train at Binghamton, which made for some great lighting, such as on todays train, working QD yard. The steel structire at right is a Marconi tower. The Lackawanna RR was an early experimenter with radio communication, and had erected the tower to transmit from the station to trains in 1913. There is a NY State historical marker to note its significance. |
