PRR 9851, EFP-15, 1966
Mid-Mountain. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-June of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engine #9851 and three GP-9's whose numbers were not recorded. All were built by EMD. #9851 is an EFP-15 built in 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are passing under four-track Signal Bridge #2398 with a westbound merchandise freight train. Also visible are Brush Mountain in the mid-distance and Lock Mountain in the far distance.
