| This decrepit structure was at one time the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe depot in Holcomb, KS. It is notable for its brief description in Truman Capote's book, In Cold Blood, with particular mention of "its peeling sulphur-colored paint." The depot was later moved to Bucklin, KS with the hope of it being part of a tourist railroad, but the venture ultimately failed. The depot now rots away in a field in Bucklin, the tracks it was placed beside have since been abandoned, and the vestiges of its "sulphur-colored" pain succumbed to the elements. |
