"Pennsy" Magazine, July-August 1957
Here is a photo from an article entitled "Men Who Run The PRR: Master Mechanics Keep Rolling Stock Moving." It was published originally in the July-August 1957 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 8. The photographer is not identified. Shown here are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9616 and two more "FA" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9616 is an AF-16 built in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. They are pulling a string of hopper cars under the 4th Street Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.
