Sharp looking loco with its shining whitewalls was built by Alco-Schenectady in 1913 originally for the Boston & Maine as their #2692. Note on the back of the photo relates the loco's tragic end. "This engine was bought from B&M in August of 1946. Was scraped (sic) in Nov. 1947. Was 2nd engine of double headed in rear-on collision. Engineer was killed." Ray F. Higgins photo |
