A trio of colorful visitors from out-of-town lead a unit train of tank cars past the Hwy. G overpass and parallel to Hwy. 41 while headed southwest via CN, former C&NW, rails at Snells, WI on 3 Mar. '19. Snells, formerly known as Snell’s Station or Snell’s Crossing, is now little more than a map dot in the Town of Neenah, Winnebago Co. This small, rural community once included a post office, depot, cheese factory, sawmill, school, and stockyard. It does not look like any real remnants of the original community remain. Even the station sign, erected after the depot was removed, is gone. The former SOO rails can be seen running parallel along this side of the train. |
