CP 2-8-0 #3403 - Canadian Pacific
This is a strange photo. Although it appears to be an 0-8-0, it actually is a 2-8-0 Consolidation whose pilot truck was termporarily removed so it could serve as a yard switcher. An online source said that the pilot truck was kept handy to re-install just in case corporate inspectors would appear or road power was needed. The loco was built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in October of 1904 originally as CP 2-8-0 #1603 but was renumbered in September of 1912. The loco last into the 1950's. No date was given for the photo so an approximate one was used. James E. Platt photo
