Milwaukee Road 2-8-2 Mikado #577 was caught sitting in the storage/scrap line at the Bensenville yard after officially being retired 2 months earlier. History - Baldwin, 12/1920 serial #54197 class L-2a nee-MILW 8277, renumbered in 6/1938 to MILW 577. The loco served well for nearly 33 years before being retired in December of 1953. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,600 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
