Originally built by Alco-Richmond in 1918 for the Seaboard Air Line, it was sold to the B&O in 1922 and rebuilt by their shops into this 2-8-8-0 "Consolidation Mallet" type locomtoive. Specifics - class EL-6a, ex-SAL 2-8-8-2 acquired in 1922, 63" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 25x32" cylinders (4), engine weight of 492,000lb, impressive tractive effort of 121,429 lb. The class was retired in 1954. This appears to be a later reprint of the newly rebuilt #7303. No photographer or exact date given. |
